Our History
Stuart-Rodgers
Photography was founded by Betty Stuart who began her career in
photography in 1940 after graduating from the Medill
School of Journalism at Northwestern University. Facing supply
and equipment challenges during World War II,
Betty Stuart Photography became a successful business
specializing in people and event photography.
Portraits and
weddings were the primary focus of her work with a new and
unique emphasis in a natural and photojournalist style. In 1946
Betty’s husband John Boyd Rodgers joined the company and
Stuart-Rodgers Photography was born.
Since
then their location in Evanston was expanded to a converted
firehouse
in 1962 at 2504 Green Bay Road. Later a Chicago location was
added that is now located at 375 W. Erie Street.
Over the
years the business grew to include corporate, commercial and
school photography in addition to new and innovative approaches
to portraiture and wedding photography.
Today
Stuart-Rodgers Photography is a nationally known leader in
quality, personalized photography bringing a unique style and
commitments to the industry.
